"Providing Innovative Water and Wastewater Solutions"

 Charlotte County, Florida Public Works
Current Contracts

USWSC has a long term relationship with the County Utilities Department and has reliably provided relief staffing related to plant operations since 2003. This water treatment facility is a reverse osmosis (RO) plant that draws brackish water from three shallow wells and reduces the total dissolved solids and chlorides to meet Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) standards. Raw well water is filtered with cartridge filters and acid and antiscalant is added prior to delivery to the three R/O skids. After passing through the reverse osmosis system, the permeate is dosed with caustic soda for pH adjustment prior to degasification, disinfection and storage. Finished water is delivered to the distribution system via one of three high service pumps. A single large hydropneumatic tank provides pressure damping and prevents pump short cycling during low demand periods. Due to a rapidly growing service area, the plant has undergone several upgrades since 2001 and that have increased capacity from 500,000 to 2,000,000 gpd. The project expansions have included the addition of R/O skids, a second ground storage tank and additional high service pumps.
