GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Technician assists with the installation, maintenance and repair of the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. The Maintenance Technician assists with the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance of the water plant, wastewater plant and lift stations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintenance of the water and wastewater facilities
  • Pull, repair, analyze mechanical equipment pumps, motors, submersibles, etc. as necessary to complete required repairs. Assist in the installation of new utility system improvements and other water and wastewater utility related projects.
  • Organizational skills and hands on maintenance, repair and trouble shooting skills.
  • Examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Responds to maintenance schedules for equipment and vehicles. Assures the proper maintenance duties are performed. Responds to emergency calls as designated.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the position, work within the established working conditions of the position.
  • Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform a variety of related work, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of lift stations, mechanical equipment such as pumps, drives, blowers, motors and standard construction materials used in water and wastewater facilities and systems.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
  • Knowledge of public safety and security issues and regulations.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus
  • Strong understanding and expression of written and verbal English sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY: A valid Driver's license; High school Graduate or GED; Prior work experience in utility maintenance or construction management is highly desirable.

Compensation: Based on experience and job knowledge.
