Texas Association of Water Board Directors Commend USWUG’s Hurricane Harvey Response

On November 6, 2017, the Association of Water Board Directors of Texas recognized the U.S. Water Utility Group (USWUG) Houston team for its “outstanding and heroic service during Hurricane Harvey to the residents of the Texas Gulf Coast”. Hurricane Harvey was a Category 4 storm that hit Texas on August 25, 2017. The storm caused widespread damage and flooding in the Houston metropolitan area which resulted in 82 deaths and property costs greater than $180 billion. All U.S. Water Utility Group Houston staff contributed in preparation and recovery activities. In many cases power was limited or completely lost. However, after the storm passed the U.S. Water Utility Group team assessed the degree of devastation at the various projects, developed plans for restoration, then executed those plans over several days and weeks, as necessary. We all join the Texas Association of Water Board Directors’ President, Michael Parks, in congratulating the Houston U.S. Water Utility Group team for their professionalism and heroism in response to this dangerous and devastating event.
