Project Highlights

0.5 MGD Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant Design/Build, Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA), Fort Myers, FL

In June 2023, U.S. Water was contracted by the FGUA to design and build a 0.5 MGD RO water treatment plant for the Lehigh Acres community, responding to quickly growing customer demand. The project includes well pumps, sand separators, chemical feed systems, an RO skid, forced draft aerator, water storage, and high service pumping. To fast-track the project, U.S. Water accelerated design and equipment procurement, reducing schedule times, and expedited Florida DEP permitting. The project is set to deliver potable water within 16 months from the notice to proceed.

Sumterville Water Treatment Plant Chloramine Conversion Design/Build, City of Bushnell, FL

In March 2023, U.S. Water was hired by the City of Bushnell to convert the Sumterville water treatment plant from free chlorination to chloramine disinfection, complying with an FDEP consent order to reduce disinfection byproducts. The design/build project included chemical systems, advanced water monitoring with SCADA, inline mixing, and additional chemical injection points. U.S. Water guaranteed compliance within a year from startup. During this time, U.S. Water assumed full responsibility for plant operations, while City staff managed distribution system sampling. In just six months of operation, the system achieved full compliance, notably reducing disinfection byproducts.
